Story time! This is how insanely good Jesus is: Insanely good!
Story Part I: Okay, so Peter has wanted to get a wireless system for his bass (guitar) for some time now. He's quite the mover and the shaker on stage and manages to tie himself up in knots in his guitar chord. And getting a wireless would take care of the nasty problem of cords altogether so.....that's great! The only problem is, they are anywhere from $500 to $1,000 dollars. Not great. I had to break Pete's heart once about this wireless thing because the Lord told me it wasn't the right time to buy it a while back when he had a chance to get one for pretty cheap. (I promise...this is a baby blog...I'm getting there) I felt like such a jerk for thwarting his dream to own a wireless, but I knew the Lord said, "NO..not now." And what do you do with that other than say..."Okay." Anyway, before we left for vacation, Pete was checking around online and found an amazing deal on a wireless system from a guy who works at the local guitar shop in town of which we are frequent visitors. It's nice to know the people you're buying things from (and where they work, so you know which business to boycott if the thing you bought turns out to be a piece of crap). Did I mention it was an really REALLY good deal? The guy was selling it for $100.00 and it was still in the box! So, Pete asked me what I thought and I said, okay honey, let's talk to the guy when we get back to town and maybe we can just get it and you can pay the savings account back eventually. But because Jesus is so so good and always does this amazingly sweet stuff no borrowing from the savings account was necessary. This weekend we went to visit my wonderful parents for Thanksgiving/Christmas. They'll be in Ireland over Christmas so we exchanged gifts early. And guess what they gave Peter and I? $100.00 each. That's right. A lovely Benjamin! I don't know if I've ever had one before. Pretty darn cool if you ask me. And now my husband has something he has wanted for a long time and the Lord was at the heart of it.
Story Part II: Okay, here's where the baby stuff comes in. I am neurotic. Not all the time. But enough of the time that I worry myself sick over stupid stuff I have no control over. Case in point: After having been sick for about a week and a half and feeling pains in my stomach and no movement for 6 days from "Baby Smith", I had convinced myself that I had miscarried and that me being sick was somehow the cause. Even though the Lord tried telling me it was fine and the baby was okay, my neuroses prevailed and I worried and worried until I was exhausted of worrying...and we all know how healthy THAT is. So, today I got to work and decided one way I could know definitively if the baby was alive was to try and hear the fetal heartbeat. I could go into the clinic...but that would be admitting that I'm a little more than off my rocker.
Nurse: Why are we seeing you today, Krista?
Krista: I think something might be wrong with the baby
Nurse: Why do you think that?
Krista: I just do...maybe
Nurse: Have you been cramping?
Krista: No
Nurse: Spotting?
Krista: No!
Nurse: I'm sure everything's just fine...it's too early to feel much movement yet anyway...and blah blah blah.....nurse jargon...blah.
So, I decided to look for an at home heartbeat Doppler online. And what do you know!? There was one listed on our local buy/trade/sell site called bismanonline.com. Posted yesterday! Guess what the little box next to the words "Asking Amount" said. $100.00 cash only please. Are you kidding me Lord?! So I called her and 15 minutes later I was laying on my bed listening to the little lub-dub lub-dub of my baby's heart. Should I have just listened to Jesus and stopped all my worrying? Yep. But now Peter and I can listen to the baby's heart whenever we want. In the car...on a plane...in a movie theater! Wherever! So GREAT!!!
God works miracles. Everyday. Even for those who don't know He exists. All it takes is the eyes to see them for what they are...miracles!
